Cougarfest

Very true Neil. Steve, Fest is about all sorts through the day, modding, helping, pointing and laughing, nicking ideas etc. So the event is very Cougar orientated, at night when the stereo's are on, the ones with flashy lights all congregate in a central point around the marquee and are normally flashing away until the early hours. The majority of the social aspect i.e the drinking etc happens in the evening with a gathering around the bbq or whatever. So it is majority Cougar focused with the added advantage of instead of going home after a few hours out talking about them, you have the chance to crack open a beer and have a laugh with the people you've met and stolen ideas from lol.

Just look through the archive pics of the previous fests to see what happens, it's not all drunken mischief :)

Well we won't be getting bladdered on the Saturday night as we have an early rise to get to Santa Pod on the Sunday morning. The Friday night though is another matter whistling..gif

Despite being relatively new on ukc -me and Mini MoFo really enjoy the social side of the club. I've lost count of the number of meets we went to last year - Trax, Harewood, Midlands breakfast club, Donnington, half a dozen West Yorks meets, Castle Combe etc etc.

We were a little unsure about the Fest as a/. it's three days, b/. we don't do camping c/. times are hard d/. would it be suitable for mini and e/. neither of us drink (Mini was only 12 at last years Fest:beer: ).

I'd already got so much out of the club (Notably Mart and Al - who I'd never even met before that point - fitting my new suspension and lowering the cat foc (y)) that we decided to bite the bullet and sign up. Went to Halfrauds and got a 1/2 price tent etc saved our pennies and off we went.

Got there late on the Friday but got a very warm welcome and everyone pitched in to get our tent up in the wind and rain. Had a bite to eat and then got on with introducing ourselves to those we didn't know - with the help of those we did.

Saturday was a glorious day - spent the morning wandering around looking at everyones cats, work in progress, playing with Chris's radio controlled car, had a few bits done to my cat, picked up a lot of tips etc etc.

Saturday afternoon me and Mini went carp fishing - all of 100 yds from our tent and caught a few decent fish - we won the ukc carp king title (cos we were the only ones who entered ).

Back to the tent to get changed for the fancy dress and had a smashing evening - good food - great company - all those with fancy lighting getting their cars around for a disco light show. Kully running the sounds off his laptop - a genuinly good night which we both thoroughly enjoyed. I don't recall anyone getting that drunk (except maybe Wonder Woman and the manic nun).

Sunday - had breakfast, packed up and went - a cracking weekend - came away with a good number of people added to my friends list and, as mentioned, being able to put a lot more faces to forum names.

If anyone is umming and arrring about coming then don't - just get your name down - you won't regret it - it's what makes ukc a club and not just another forum and it would be a crying shame if this was to be the last one (y)

I couldn't think of anything worse than sitting around in a field drinking for 3 days.

Don't think that anybody has ever achieved that particular accolade, very few people sit around, drinking and the cars are secondary to what is always a memorable weekend, I have never once been inebriated at cougarfest. Seriously though, that sentence proves that you and anybody else that has that view doesn't have an idea of what cougarfest is. It's being with mates, it's having a drink (if you want to, don't think that it's compulsory yet), it's talking about the forum, maybe chewing over some old thread and seeing that maybe it's possible to misunderstand somebody online, it's watching the various people fitting bits to their cars or changing suspension componants etc, a cake mysteriously appearing on saturday night.
Cougarfest is what you want it to be, as members, we shape the weekend, if you are uninspired by the thought of going, then maybe it's better you don't go, an uninspired sculptor sits looking at a block of marble, an inspired one creates a masterpiece. I never go with preconceived ideas of what the weekend holds, all 5 have been different, but I konw that my block of marble will be a masterpiece that I'll want to keep forever.

All I'm saying is this is the impression I got from chatting to people, and if I think that, then surely there will be others with the same impression.

Depends who you talk to, some just thrive on negativity.

This is killing me lol theres a bunch of you umming n arring about going to what will be the best meet of the year, and i flippin cant cos i'm skint!!!!!!!! At this rate the bank is gonna pay for my CF10 regardless!!! The ones i have been to have been awesome, good friends, good times, a lot of chewing the fat, modding, swapping ideas, helping others out, getting help from others, taking the p, getting the p taken lol, watching and partaking with the best bunch of nutters your ever likely to come across in the middle of a field, and having a bloody good time doing it!!!!!!!!!!
Dont think, just do it..........you WONT regret it!!!!! ;-)))

2007, i'd been a member for a few months, took a dive in at the deep end literally, and drove (appx 100 miles) in the pouring rain to CF. Gradually met most of the guys and gals through the day, later on i had a few cans and chatted, mostly with Phil Robbo who made me feel at home along with the other members, no way did i get bladdered, nor did i feel compelled to. Nothing is compulsory at cougarfest, it's like any other camping weekend! do what you feel comfortable with.
I've been to each one since 2007 and enjoyed it all the way, not by getting drunk, but enjoying the company, chatting, fixing other peoples cars or mods o_O, and yes, socially drinking later in the day after a good old bacyegg fry up.
I'm not in to fancy dress, although Vonny has got something prepared for this year and she is especially looking forward to it. I take a lot of enjoyment from seeing others having fun, i might even join in if my OFS allows

This is COUGARFEST......not BOOZEFEST! Get along and enjoy it for what it is
(y)

Well I don't know about you guys but i'm really looking forward to this years event and its only 3 weeks away (21 days) so its time to get organizing (I just hope my sister didn't ruin my tent or else i'll be using the "body-bag"!!)

looking forward too ginga, i will be calling upon some assistance to set up my tent, got rid of 2 man and bought a 4 man, but its a bit of a pain to set up, plan, get there early, so got all day to battle with it, lol,o_O(y)
