Just reviewing this first post:
Where the hell does the Humber Bridge fit into all of this? :geek::eek::angel:

Humm and here was me thinking you lot HATE the look of the C2 ;) ah ha

What I was going on about is the tendency of people in the scene to darken their headlights, but yeah at £400 each to replace then its probably not a good idea to start playing with them.

No Matt, just the front bumper. The C2 is (in my opinion, at least) a nicer (I've deliberately steered away from using the word 'better') car than the C1 in most respects. It has a higher quality, more modern feel to the interior, with better shaped seats trimmed in nicer leather and those headlights are gorgeous. I know a lot of people favour the darkened and boobied (new word for the day) headlights of the C1, as they give the car a more mean and moody scowl, on some days I'd agree but on most I don't. Where I feel the C2 falls down is THAT front bumper, it's bland, square and totally incongruous with the styling of the rest of the car - the C1 item is far nicer, even if the foglights aren't particularly good. I'm not overly sold on the C2 steering wheel, I suppose it matches Ford's design language of the time but it looks a bit 'Tomy My First Steering Wheel' compared to the C1. Finally, I'm curious about why Ford downsized the CC rating of the engine from 2544cc to 2495cc. I genuinely don't know if there are any performance or power differences, it just seems a strange thing to do. I'm indifferent about the standard fit wheels, if I had to jump one way or the other I'd probably take the C1s, but I think 16s of any style are too small to look 'right' on the car and most of us end up replacing them anyway.

Perhaps split them open and tone them down a bit, didn't Martyn (dogsbody) do that when he fitted some to his Black cougar?? or am i thinking of someone else?

Yes my c2 headlights are black on the inside. It was done by a previous owner (very badly) I had to split em again and repaint. I like them black, i prefer them over the c1 bangers and they actually work much better at lighting up the road ;-)

That was my understanding ;)

Rich I was being ironic :) although I didn't realise how keen you were on the lights, could be interesting if you all start swopping to C2 lights when there aren't that many out there ;) leave some spare parts for me

I just thought if you painted the internals to match the proposed paint work, but in a chrome style way that would look good, say use a tranparent purple laquer if such a thing exsists. But otherwise yeah it will be something different looking with the C2 lights in place (the C1 ones are a bit out of date looking now)

I don't agree at all about out of date, there isn't a huge difference in the look of the headlights, after all, they still have to fit in the same position. I don't think that the cougar looks out of date at all since it was a very forward looking design in the first place. I agree pretty much with what rich said regarding design, it's that bumper that ruins the C2, it looks too square and doesn't fit in with everything else.

TBH, the C2 seats look better, never sat in them whilst driving, so don't know if they hold you in place better. Having said that I've got cloth trim, so never been a problem for me. The chrome touches on the interior do make it look better, if not more modern, and the dials are better looking than the C1's, which is why Rachel's having Si's. I've got speedhut ones anyway, which IMO look better than both C1 and C2 dials, but I'm biased. :p

Sorry I ment compared with car headlight designe nowadays, which is all chrome and bling etc.

Anyway aren't we getting a bit off-topic? (remember what what has been written in Si's thread about 4000 posts ;))

Just Ford's later revision of the engine. I think the main difference is the extra baffles in the revised sump and no EGR.
Comparing both C1 and C2 handbooks and brochures, performance and economy figures are identical.

I wonder if they reduced the cc below 2500 to bring it into a different tax bracket in another territory?

Well Bobster, sounds asthough it's all coming along nicely. Good price on paintwork - would love to get mine done, but I think it's going to be a long way down the line before that happens. Will be intrigued to see the finished article as last time I saw your Coug was at Harewood House back in 2009. Anyway all sounding great.
