What Have You Done to Your Cougar Today?

Changed head light bulbs, 150%, not made much difference, probably clean the lenses when the weather improves but they are not that yellow, my daughters old Corsa has much better lights and it's the same age ☹️

MOT.
Taxed.
That's 12p/mile! (£360.00/3000)
Managed to coax the ABS/TC lights (they were off when the tester was looking for them, but he spotted them on later - cycled ignition and they went out), and I promised to replace the tyre that had the usual inside wear where it had been mostly used on the front; new pair on order. It helped I think that he's friends with my mechanic who happened to be there - say what?

Gone in for MOT and failed ☹️
Two broken front springs
Steering arms
Advisorys on fuel line corrosion, end of sill, bottom of both front wings.

Obviously the corrosion is not a shock but two broken springs on the front is not expected although the pot holes are not getting any better, however the steering arms were replaced last mot so that was annoying.

Sourced another pair of 35mm front springs, steering arms and drop links,
Need to source top front strut mounts and bearings and lower arm pinch bolts with nuts, any links appreciated.

so today i decided to completely flush out the entire cooling system and heater matrix on suzi..
the old antifreeze had a strange smell to it and noticed lots of scale buildup in the tank so drained and flushed out then refilled with nice yellow prestone and softened water....

as usual ended up working in the dark....i hate winter:mad:
geez look at the state of that bumper..filthy bloody roads.

She looks good under there. I approve of ditching the cam covers breathing into the inlet and using mini breather filters instead.
Where did you get the plug leads ?

there standard ford ones(leads)...just cleaned with wd40..

both the breather hoses had split and i found out that the air actually goes into the cam covers ,down to the crankcase and then into the uim via the pcm valve so put them(filters) on instead of having pipes going into the air box hose etc...works well..

I’m pleased to report I actually did a little to mine today.
I followed a tip from Quicksilver a month or 3back and made an eBay purchase of a land rover bonnet switch. The switch itself is Cougar compatible but the lead is short and the plug different. A few minutes work with my soldering iron created a perfect marriage of Landrover and Cougar with the longer lead from the Cougar switch soldered onto the Ebay sourced Landrover switch. Refitted and the job should be a good in. Can‘t test just yet.

As part of my tracking down inoperative rad cooling fans I checked some of the earth connections under the battery. I pulled, derusted and painted my battery tray about 3 years ago. Replacing several crap old bolts at rhe time. Today, much to my surprise, I found loose bolt with the earth wires not as secure as they should be.
I can only blame me. 13mm socket saw it fixed, after I checked it was all free of any high resistance rusty connection. I also refixed the rear cam cover breather filter that I didn’t refix a month or 6 ago.

I‘m pretty sure my non running fans problem existed before I worked on the battery tray and the dodgy earth isn’t the answer. Next job is going to be draining the coolant and pulling the rad to replace the sensor.
