What a great start to a Saturday....

I suppose policy is dictated from central government, targets etc. I know that the male and female traffic officers who pulled me for my front tints last year seemed discontent. They fully agreed with the policy of removing the tints on safety grounds but said that they feel more like tax collectors, they were very fair with me, it was almost a pleasurable experience!!:D:D:D

Until punishments are made harder, offenders will do their worst unhindered, overcrowding in prisons can only mean that the occupants see it more as a holiday from responsibility than a punishment. Don't misunderstand me, I would struggle to cope in there, however, some people are used to it and don't care. The effluent will hit the fan once the scumbags numbers equal the same as the decent people, then nothing and nobody will be safe in a lawless state.

I don't agree with gassing these people. Not with the price of gas as it is. I say let's go back a couple of thousand years and stone them. At least we can reuse the stones on the next scrote that is caught. For an example, please see Monty Python's Life of Brian. :mad5::mad5:

This type of thing does make my blood boil, as a cop I`m sure it make you quite angry that their is little justice done when these people are caught, but what really angers me is that if someone gets caught by your people speeding, they are punished three times for it, i.e. penalty points, a fine, increased insurance premium. If you catch someone damaging your car, you give them a kicking you get done for assault or gbh or whatever, it always seems that the wrong people get the hard time.
Perhaps the law in this country IS an ass.

and thankyou for jumping into the lions den, we like controversy. (y)

We as owners also get the brunt of it with things like this damage.
The 2 of them merrily drive off to smash someone elses car, and we're left to not only clear up, but also pay the ?ú250 excess and also to be without a car (we're lucky we have another to use, most are not).
Our next years premium will go up, no claims bonus is lost, and all for something that was not our fault. To use the word 'unfair' doesn't seem strong enough.

Jacqui.

I've not done anyone for speeding that didnt deserve it ..i.e. Saxo/Nova Boy racers through towns ect!!

And as for the speed vans..we're all behind them being taken from the road, and the bloody speed camaras too!! Gives the general public a bad impression of the police.

Hope the buggers who smashed your windows lose there fingers next time!

Looks like they have damaged the window/windscreen pillar as well though, as if they didn't realise the doors are frameless on these cars.
I won't comment any further until this thread is moved in to the 18's only area :mad5:
disgusted....

I agree matey, this stuff does make you really feel like venting your spleen :incazzato:

to most people it's just a car

It doesn't matter whether it's a Cougar, Jay Kays Fezza, or a manky Moggy Minor held together with rust. Anyone who trashes someones motor deserves to have their genitalia wired to a 13amp socket........

In a way I'm glad that Rob wasn't awake & able to grab them, as he got hold of one before who damaged one of the other Cougars, and the guy tried to take Rob to court for GBH.....

I take it the offender lucked out?

I thought this type of thing had all but gone away, but the other night I witnessed a couple of lads cruising my street about 1:30am in a Focus, I thought to myself "i'll keep an eye on these...", thought no more about it and went back to bed, about 10 or 15minutes later another sound catches my ear, so I looks out and there are a couple of oiks wheeling a motor-scooter down this alley way on the other side of the road, then the Focus turns up again! .... the get away car, the buggers had been scopeing the road for targets. I was on the phone right away, just couldn't make out the REG no. (although a Burgundy focus with black rims/windows aint gona be too hard to spot even at night) the police turned up about 10minutes later and luckily they found the scooter (it had been nicked from a house a little further down my road) latter on a small dog unit arrived to see if he could pic up the scent I guess. I dunno if they caught the guys responsible, but i'm sure as hell gona keep my eyes and ears open for anymore ..... occurances...

Have had TWO cars broken into in the past and all the ICE stolen so know how distressing this is, maybe we should have shiria law, chop off the blighters hands...:grr:

this is really out of fargin order you have my sincere sympathies!!

I remember a few years back having windscreen wipers nicked of wifes Picasso and had a fuel tank holes just so they could nick a gallon of fuel and leave the other ?ú30 to p.ss all over the road - uterly ridiculous and selfish in the extreme.

Just a little update.
Rob was onto the insurers today (Chris Knott) and dispite me having rung as soon as I could after it happened, being on the phone to 4 different people, and having the car taken away - they knew nothing about it!
So, Rob had to go through the claim yet again. Sadly, the woman said Cat may be classed as a right off.

Huh? A right off? There's not that much damage surely? I could understand it if it had been pranged but a smashed window and a few other bits? Confused

Beat me to it.

Written off for a couple of hundred quids worth of dent removal & a drop glass seems rather severe. Remind me to not use Chris Knott.

It's not just the window. They tried to pop it out in 3 places, so there are 2 places of damage on the door, plus damage to the front pillar.
As the window was popped and one of the cherubs was standing in front of it, it bounced off him and back onto Cat, & the glass has chipped the paint in a few places (you can see a few of the chips in the photo of the spoiler).

it doesnt take much for it to be a write off in these days , with the price of cougars dropping its all about the labour involved in removing the dents , theres not a smart repairer in the country who could get those out 100% then theres the cost of the paint and spraying . No insurance approved bodyshop would be allowed to just skim it with filler and touch the paint in .

hopefuly they will agree to do the repairs and if not buy it back from the insurance company and use some of the money you get to get the repairs done buy a decent bodyshop local to you

Ok, I understand that, but to write your Coug off for "minor" details seems a little ridiculous to me. If they do, then I would ask to buy it back and then have the damage repaired locally :yesnod:
