Thundercat - The Movie (Or maybe I should say B Movie)

soes anyone know where the car ended up , im absoloutly certain i saw it parked outside "ice sheffield" (ice skating rink near the arena) last summer , i found out it belonged to a guy who worked there!

wow, nice video...you should deffo upload this on youtube, this deserves to be shared with the masses

Awesome car Paul, shame it never quite attained it's potential (not your fault by any means) but it was damn close. (y)

I think it'd be fair to say, and I hope Paul doesn't shoot me down, but for everyone that says they'd have loved to have seen it in the flesh, I think you're better off with the pics, the magazine feature and the videos. I'll not forget the first time I saw it and feeling heartbroken for Paul that after so much effort and expense that the car looked as it did. And then seeing the variations of the car before it went up for sale was just awful. To this day, and I'm sure Paul feels the same(but probably a lot more!!), I just don't see why when it went in for jobs 1,2 and 3 etc that they weren't just done right? Well, in an ideal world and all that.............

I look at the pics and stuff now and look at what should have been. The only thing I won't forget from seeing it for real was that amazing noise of it tearing up the tarmac!! :)

I think the problem with Thundercat was it was a first (in the U.K. anyway), so it was all experimental (prototype) and the company doing it, with hindsight, didn't have the experience, so far as the bodykit was concerned. Now, I've heard different stories concerning Twisted Vision, and Thundercat, but, to be fair it all happened at a time before I was even a Cougar owner. At the end of the day, Shagmonkey had great plans for his Cougar, and he put his money where his mouth is, and tried to live the dream. He came painstakingly close, and must be seen as an inspiration for the rest of us modders. I hope the current project goes better for you mate, whatever it may be.

I have seen and heard the car in the flesh and it was good (including the ICE build in the boot), Lambo doors were a good gimmick that the car pulled off (lambo doors work on some cars but not on others) its just the fit and finish left something to be desired, but that wasn't Pauls fault. It had its day at Ford Fair'96 parked up on the Fast Ford Stand next to a Mustang GT and it looked awesome

Paul, I never got to see your Thundercat in the flesh, but hearing the stories from the others, I know the finish wasn't brilliant. Even so, it looked a top Cougar and I saw the pic's before I bought mine, so that really sold it to me when seeing the Thundercat. Just a shame it wasn't as good you'd hoped. I wish you all the best with your new Coug and the projects you have set up for that.

Excellent Paul - the acceleration when overtaking was mind blowing! Just a pity that the speedo wasn't calibrated so it was giving a false reading, isn't that right mate, wink, nudge, wink.(y)

Heh, brings back some memories!

I'll never forget when Paul handed over his keys when I went to visit- awesome. Given the choice between a turbo and a supercharger, it'd be a supercharger EVERY time- the way it accelerated when I hit 5k was ridiculous. Spinning the wheels through 5-7k in 1st and 2nd is a whole new experience! :)

I should point out that it wasn't me in the video either!!

Never saw this video before, having seen the car I have to agree about the inferior quality, I have spent a small fortune on mine in 7.5 years of ownership, when you consider that my original induction kit was around £200.00, only to be junked after a couple of years, engine rebuild £5k etc but it pales into insignificance against this car, if only it'd worked out better! But for some pretenders doing the work, this would have probably been the best Cougar in existance, worldwide.
