A day of hugely contrasting emotions.
Tim was a credit to Chris today in the way he conducted himself.
The turn out from this family was outstanding. From Scotland (nice one Dick) to the south west, south coast, midlands, east coast.....i could go on.
The flowers were brilliant....thanks for organising that Kully. The ribbons were superbly prepared for everyone on arrival, along with the pics of Chris....excellent work from Matt and RichB.
I had time today to chat to most people, including six hours in the car with Rob - thanks for the lift dude.
I have said it elsewhere and I have said it to people directly, but this is not a car club....it's friends who own the same car.
I was proud today. I was sad, I cried, I smiled, I laughed.
It was nice to catch up with old friends and put faces to names of many others, all of whom were oustanding people.
There was hardly a dry eye in the house during the ceremony....during which it was clear just how much this family played a part in Chris' life.
I still have two pm's in my in-box from Chris sent just days before his tragic death.
I don't profess to have been Chris' closest friend on this forum, but thought the world of the bloke and spent an extremely enjoyable evening with him and many others at Blackpool last year when I got to know him and Tim a lot better.
Today also reminded me of the fact that there is some humanity left in the world, with 99 per cent of other road users assisting our outstanding convoy on its way to and from the crematorium.
I think Al said to me it was like i'd had a word with the local plod to take care of that side of things for us.
The site of the car park at The Leopard was wonderful. We did wonder if it was appropriate to take photo's...and do you know what it was - its what Chris would have done....he would have been chuffed to bits.
A couple of hours at the pub, gave us the time for reflection, a couple of beers, some lovely food and generally sharing our stories.
I am rambling on a bit now, but its just a semblence of my thoughts on this day.
RIP Chris - i hope we did you proud mate.
