Bandpass IIRC is were you have two subs in an enclosure* but they are mounted facing each other with each sub out of phase with the other (think i'm right so far....) so when one is pushing the air the other one is pulling. One Sub will be in a sealed enclosure, the other in a ported enclosure.....and thats about all I can remember ;)
Bandpass would mean it is set up to only play a specific range of frequencys..i.e. it wont drop to the max it will just play say 40Hz...but very LOUD! (I do remember an instaler once using one to produce the maiting call of the African Elephant, which subsequently caused everyone in close proximity to throw up, as it is also the natural resonance sound of your gut!)
