My Cougar

I have also started to paint my handles but will need a few coats as I am spraying them and then gently rubbing them down and repainting to lose the original texture of the handles. I decided to paint both bits

Also here are a couple of photos of my new handbrake and the grey alcantara I am going to be trimming the roof in

Thanks Sabre Tooth. Outside I am not sure what I am going to do. Has anyone ever put ST24 alloy wheels on a Cougar or do they not fit?

With the headliner as much as it will be a pita do NOT stick it right over the top of the old fabric it will fall off no matter what glue you use as the foam seperates under the standard lining with the weight of the alcantara it really does need to be stripped off which takes forever.

Welcome aboard the good ship Cougardome, thats a nice Ebony you have there, liking what your doing to the interior too. Hope to see you at some of the meets.

I can see what people are saying about the ST24 wheels. Just done a photoshop and not keen on the idea at all now. JJ as for the headlining you are spot on. Luckily I found a guide on NECO before starting and they said the exact same about moving the foam. Thanks fo r the word of advice though. I will add more pics as work progresses

No worries mate just would hate to see someone put all the work in for it to fail a few weeks later!!, it is a pain stripping the foam off the best solution is a 3m flap wheel on a cordless drill to remove it very messy but works the best that I could find without damaging anything.

Also make sure it is completly smooth the slightest bit of anything under alcantara will show up, really looking forward to seeing a completely redone interior not many go to the effort.

Good luck mate and keep posting pics.

Right bit of an update. On saturday I pick up some 17 inch TSW Pace multispokes which I am looking forward to fitting. I know its the wrong colour Cougar but heres a quick photoshop

I also have bought some silvervision indicator bulbs

My interior handles are coming along nicely. I have been spraying and then lightly sanding down to gradually lose any imperfections

I think most people on here will think I am crazy but I have decided to remove the cougar badges from the steering wheel and doorcard screw hole cover and get some Ford badges made up. Here is a mock up of what they will look like. I will post some pics up once they have arrived and installed

Mate, you're doing something that (to my limited knowledge) nobody has done before. It's guys like you who innovate with new ideas that keep the Cougar looking fresh - we all love tweaking them but do we all want to end up with exact clones of eachother's cars? More importantly though, it's your car. If it looks good to you and pleases your eye then sod what any of us think, we've got our own cars to implement our own preferences.

I was going to get some badges made out of metal and engraved in like a brushed aluminium / steel to match my steering wheel and handbrake cover but when I took off the cougar heads on the doorcards to be left with silver circles I felt it stood out a bit too much. So I decided to get gel badges printed up which again werent cheap but I think it will be worth it.

Right picked up my alloy wheels this morning. I am going to be refurbing them before they go on the car. One of the tyres I had to get changed as it was a different size profile

I want to also get some Ford centre caps that will fit these wheels. I have had a search and found one at my local salvage yard that will fit with a bit of modding. I will have to file down the back teeth / grips a bit so it slots in. If not I am going to use the original TSW centre caps and remove the TSW badge and get some Ford gel badges made and fit them. So I have already been tinkering around with the centre caps

Does anyone know if I will need different nuts to fit these to my car?

I will keep posting pics as I make progress on my car

David, why don't you PM Al aka Pid_16v who makes all sorts of stickers including ones that will fit over centre caps - might be a bit easier and you can then have whatever colour you like too (y)

I was thinking that but I would rather have gel domed badges made up. If not I am going to get the people who are making the badges for my steering wheel and doorcards to knock me up a set. Lovely looking car you have btw WildV6
