Cougar Concept moulds

Thundercat was broken and a fair chunk of the bodywork is now with another member, the car isn't complete yet.

The other sat in storage for a couple of years and was offered for sale on here last year iirc, I don't remember seeing anyone buy it though.

There was at least 4 cars with the kit on. Those 4 were put together by whatever Twisted Vision or Altered Crap it was called back then. Also, there was that group buy here and also I remember hearing that around 7 or 8 kits had been sold through other mediums.

Not being funny, but this is why i stopped doing composites for car clubs, i ended up giving too much time away and not paying my bills............... and dont worry Mike, it's not a dig at you, just composites and cars period, if i did a set of bodykit it would be mine only
Tony it was Makos kidneys i was after not the car kits :LOL::LOL:

iirc he went to Hollywood to become Darth Vaders right hand man and took the car with him. Taking the car bit is beleivable.
Christian sold his cougar to someone in europe, in pictures it didnt look to bad but in the flesh it just didnt meet up to scrutiny, I personally think the bodyshop he used had done a good job but the kit from the moulds was very poor in both quality of material and quality of finish, still I remember he got several thousand for it when he sold it (y)

Don't suppose you remember the 4th Kully? The ones I know are Thundercat, King Roderick's one (the one I mentioned being offered for sale) , CJSNet's car in the pics above...

Two complete kits were sold in that infamous group buy, Luke Daisley received his full kit but to my knowledge it was never fitted to a car. Wayne (username Balley or something?) also ordered one but don't think he ever received it.

Thanks, all this info on the production and fitting of the moulds is both interesting and helpful to me.

Sounds like I will need to go into the whole project very carefully, in terms of material used, quality of production etc.

Then consider what donor Cougar to use (got to be a C2 so will have to choose which one of mine carefully),
and then a bodyshop with the professional ability to fit to perfection!

So, any further advice/ thoughts are very much appreciated, especialy from those club memers who have 'been there before' with
the previous concept mould projects.
cheers,
Wil

Think you are right there Paul, the 3.0L should stay original!

Brilliant, thanks Mike!

Okay, so if you're going to put one of your C2s in, and you're fine with being without it for a couple of months, look up these guys:

I swear a blood oath that the car will come back perfect. No equivocation. Got a snag? It gets fixed.

Tony - the proprietor - is responsible for Jinxy's rebirth. He's had plenty of business from the Rover Coupe club since. But you will need patience.

Twistted Vision weren't very good, but that kit seemed difficult to fit at best.

Will if you are determined about this, might I suggest you spend some time measuring the moulds very carefully with particular focus on checking it's symmetrical.

Christian always denied it angrily (probably because he's spent way more than the car was worth having it done even back then) but you can see even in the photographs that it's wonky. The NSR wheelarch flare isn't in the right place and you can clearly see the wheel way off centre in the arch - and it's different left and right.

No point wasting time and money taking pulls from those moulds if they're just wrong... Twisted Vision were ****-eyed but unfortunately they made the moulds as well as fitted the kits poorly, so you really want to check they're symmetrical before committing money to this.
