If any of you are wondering what has replaced my beloved cougar, wonder no more! It is:

Its the 2.5 5 cylinder petrol turbo engine a lá Focus ST. Very nice car. It is the Titanium X model so its got all the kit. After owniing the cougar i couldnt be without a car with lots and lots of gadgets and this has got nearly every one you can think of.

I will miss the quirky charms of the Cougar, and it was definitely an head turner. I used to like the odd person asking me about it, and saying "you dont see many of these anymore!". I didnt enjoy people mistaking it for an Hyundai Coupe though lol - has anyone else ever had that?

Although, sadly its time for me to move on. I havent got the room, funds or skills to keep fixing a car and although it is OK when I put the sale post up, I need something reliable for work etc.

I just hope I can make a contribution to members on here by providing them with some harder-to-find parts for their Cougars.

Nice - I was looking at the 2.5T before I decided on the RX. Never driven a Mk4 but heard they put the Mk3 to shame - which drove pretty damn well when I had one. Looks like it needs some stainless pipes though :devilish:

We use the Diesel version of these for Taxi's and they are great cars to drive. Fuel consumption is superb and the boot space is enormous. You may encounter a problem with the electric windows though as it is an earlier model. The wiring was a bit on the thin side and tended to corrode or overheat at the crimps resulting in the window failing. We had iot on two different cars and a few other drivers encountered this also.
