So the time has come to share this with the world. 25 years ago to this very day I drove out of Cardiff Renault with a 1997 Yellow Renault Megane MK1 Cabriolet 2 Litre 16V. This car was my pride and joy.
In 2003 the twins came along and I had to sell the car. It killed me to do this but it was for the right reasons at the time.
Fast forward 25 years later and the exact same model that I used to own became available on Ebay. It was a barn find........ well actually it was in a chicken shed. The last picture you can see is how it was found. The ebay seller had cleaned the car up, put an MOT on it and used it for around 3 months. He then put it up for sale.
So I won the auction, set about going to get it and started to return it to as factory fresh as I could.
I also managed to pick up the ultra rare Roadbox for it that converts the car into a 2 seater
First job was to have the timing belt changed & fluids changed as it was sat for over 6 years in the chicken shed.
Next, I got all the Renault Speedline Alloy wheels refurbished in period Renault Silver powercoat paint.
Then I got a Longlife stainless steel exhaust fitted with oval tail pipe to match the original one.
I then put it into a bodyshop to have a full respray plus ceramic coat.
The car is as close to factory standard as I could get it, even down to the car mats and radio system.
So I finally have the car back in my life once again, and this time it will never leave me no matter what.
This is the reason why the Cougar is for sale or soon to be broken up and sold on that way. It is a shame because if I had storage I would keep both cars.
