..at 6:10 in this video. Not sure what the problem was or why the trucker camming had a problem with it other than the Cougr's poor positioning on the shoulder, but here we are.

The cam truck and the other truck just before the Cougar both demonstrate atrocious lane utilisation.

the cougar has clearly got a problem with breakdown and is in trouble as the hazards are flashing, we all know that breakdown can occur suddenly so IMO the lorry REALLY cant be complaining as clearly the coug is desperately trying to get the hell out of his way even to the point of ploughing up the settled snow....give the coug a break mr lorryšŸ˜

i have the deepest respect for lorry drivers as they are on the road for crazy amounts of miles etc BUT one thing i do know about them being in a stupid 62mph limited van is they utterly hate having to slow b4 they can get past u. sometimes being quite aggressive!
this is why i constantly protest to my fleet manager who thinks its safer to limit my speed to just under their top speed....idiot:rolleyes:

No excuse for being aggressive but managers are also putting them under pressure now to maximize their MPG, which dissuades them from making sudden speed adjustments.
 
I thought all HGVs are limited to 56mph so none should be overtaking you in your 62mph limited van? I know some can get around the limiter, depending on downhill speed and stuff but most of the time you shouldn't be passed

I had a 'ride' in Crouch's recovery truck - circa 2001 - which was towing on a spec-lift a disabled artic and empty 40' fridge trailer, from Asda RDC in Leyland back to the fleet compound in Spalding, it was an ancient ex-military truck and not restricted and even with the train length he was comfortably overtaking all the restricted vehicles. I bet if they didn't know, they were shocked to see the fridge trailer leaving them for dust.
It isn't impossible to use a pre restrictor unit for commercial haulage now, but you don't get historic vehicle concessions if it's earning.

In the mid 1990s the factory I worked at had regular deliveries of orange concentrate from cold-store near a Netherlands port; a small haulage company locally, a Dutch family father and two brothers, often supplemented the regular (H&S or P&O) trucks bringing the stainless steel tankers. One of the brothers received a six-month ban for his truck exceeding 60mph on the steep M11 downhill past Stansted, despite the 56mph restrictor on his unit.
 
honestly, ive followed a lot of lorry drivers and its rare to find one under 65mph on a duel carriageway unless they are fitted with a speed tracker that literally raises an alarm with the company fleet manager if they do... i know about these as ive got one ba**** thing :rolleyes:

oddly the ones that DO seem to follow the 58mph rule are the fuel tankers and specialist haulers(chem trucks etc)
oh and tesco lorrys, cause they DO have the tell tale device on em.

a friend i know who drives the big artics said that on the a1 there's a steep hill just after Biggleswade which if he dips the clutch he can get his lorry up to 72mph..if he's got a load on.
 
I don't do long-distance or motorways very often anymore. But when I do, I feel safe tucked in with the Big Friends when I want to just cruise. I know that UK truckers will usually be okay with me tucking in as long as I'm not being unpredictable or stupid. I don't hide in their blind spots.

If they don't like me - and it's obvious when they dont - the toe goes down and I leave them a mile behind.
 
Iā€™ll freely admit I think HGV drivers are the best on our roads. Like everything, there are exceptions.
